Born in Germany in 1965. Lives and works in Germany.
In an installation, everyday hand-made stuff and
drawings are scattered about and the artist, in
a costume, is doing a performance that he calls
a "lecture." It is one of Bock's works. Bock's
works look messy and disorderly. They don't seem
to have any purpose or intention at all. But Bock
organizes his works based on his cosmology that
incorporates science, art, philosophy and economics.
Bock was invited to participate in the Berlin
Biennale in 1998 and the Venice Biennale in 1999.
In the Venice Biennale, Bock exhibited a space
installation. Visitors had to creep through a
hole in the wall to see the installation. Behind
the wall, they experienced the spaces of his enigmatic
world. In 2001, Bock presented a fashion show
as a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art
(MoMA), New York. At the show, Bock and models
appeared in weird clothes he designed and made
by hand. |
