	作者略歴 Brief record	1962年に中西夏之、高松次郎らとともにハイレッドセンターを結成し、町中での突然のハプニングやイヴェントを通じて知覚と現実の間に一種のパニックをおこさせる＜ミキサー計画＞を展開。1960年代前衛芸術運動の牽引力として活躍。独自のイラストレーションの作品でも知られる。1963年より制作した｢模型千円札｣｢千円札拡大図｣のシリーズをめぐっていわゆる＜千円札事件＞の中心人物となる。最近は、｢超芸術トマソン｣の路上観察学のように、無意識に受け入れてしまっている日常の事物をつまびらかにしていく視点から作品を制作。尾辻克彦のペンネームで作家としても活躍、第84回芥川賞受賞。本名での近年著作『老人力』はベストセラー。 海外では94年「戦後日本の前衛美術」（グッゲンハイム美術館他巡回）に出品。 国内での展覧会として、95年名古屋市美術館にて大規模な個展開催。 Born in Japan in 1937. Lives and works in Japan. Akasegawa joined with Nakanishi Natsuyuki and Takamatsu Jiro in 1962 to form a group called Hi Red Center, taking the first Chinese character in each of their names. They proceeded to carry out a series of street happenings and events that they called their "Mixer Plan," designed to create disturbances between perceptions and reality. An active leader of the avant-garde in Japan throughout the '60s, he was also known for his unique illustrations. In 1963, he began making a series of works using reproductions 1,000 notes, wrapping objects in sheets of paper printed with replicas of the currency or painting enlarged versions of the notes. This work made news when he was arrested and tried for forgery. In his recent project, Tomason Ultra-Art, Akasegawa observes the urban landscape and calls attention to extraordinary aspects of ordinary objects that would otherwise be taken for granted. He has also written novels under the pen name, Otsuji Katsuhiko, winning the 84th Akutagawa Prize for literature. A recent book published under his real name, Old People's Power, became a bestseller. International exhibitions: "Japanese Art After 1945: Scream Against the Sky," the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and other U.S. museums, 1994.
