60年、「グループ音楽」結成に関わり、61年、草月会館(東京)での「即興音楽と音響オブジェのコンサート」、アスベスト・ホール(東京)などで演奏、実験音楽の分野で活躍。62年より、フルクサス運動に参加。同年、南画廊(東京)、翌年、村松画廊(東京)にて個展、70年代はじめに渡米、ニューヨークを拠点に、マース・カニンガム舞踏団のための音楽を作曲、共演する他、精力的にソロ・コンサートを行っている。
86年、ニューヨークでの「第15回アヴァンギャルド・フェスティヴァル」参加、86年、ポンピドゥー・センターでの「前衛の日本1910
-1970」に出品。
Born in Japan in 1935. Lives and works in the
United States.
Tone has been active in the world of experimental
music. In 1960, he formed "Group Ongaku" (ongaku
means 'music' in English). In 1961, he performed
at the "Impromptu Music and Acoustic Objects"
at the Sogetsu Kaikan and at another concert at
the Asbestos Hall both in Tokyo. In 1962, he participated
in the Fluxus movement. He had solo exhibitions
at the Minami Gallery, Tokyo in 1962 and at the
Muramatsu Gallery, Tokyo in 1963. Early in the
'70s, Tone moved his base to New York. He composed
music for and played with the Merce Cuningham
Dance Company. He also had solo concerts. In 1986,
he participated in the 15th Avant-Garde Festival
in New York. In the same year, he also took part
in the "Japon des Avant-Garde 1910 - 1970" at
the Pompidou Center. |
