	作者略歴 Brief record	自らの肉体を吊り下げるパフォーマンスで知られるステラークの身体に関する考察は、最新のテクノロジーと医学、生物学の進歩を利用することで、刺激的で示唆に満ちた新しい展開を示している。ロボティックスと最新医療機器の技術を使い、自分の意志とは独立した筋肉の神経信号を抽出し、もう一つの身体=自立的な身体装具（人工器官）を創りだし、人間の身体意識の変化と未来の身体変化の可能性を考察する。彼の創り出すロボットや人口付属器は、脊椎動物の延長から逸脱した、甲殻類や昆虫の神経系の可能性についても多くの示唆を含んでいる。 Born in Australia in 1946. Lives and works in Australia. STELARC is known for his performances in which he suspends himself from the ceiling. In his recent works, he uses state-of-the-art technologies in medicine, biology and other fields. This makes his art more stimulating. Using robotics and medical instruments, he creates a body attachment (artificial organ), or indeed another body, which is controlled by involuntary muscle signals. These works explore and extend the concept of the body. The movements of the robots and artificial attachments he creates are not confined to those of a vertebrate but also derived from crustacean or insect movements.
