	作者略歴 Brief record	京都精華大学卒業後ドイツに渡り、マリーナ・アブラモヴィッチとレベッカ・ホルンの指導を受ける。泥水を満たしたバスタブに浸かり髪や顔を洗い続けるパフォーマンスヴィデオや、泥で染めた長さ数メートルのドレスを水のシャワーで洗い流すインスタレーション、また寝台などを置いたギャラリーに黒い毛糸を張り巡らすインスタレーションなど、環境の中での身体性の問題を鋭く見据えた作品を制作している。 2000年、「コンチネンタル・シフト」展（ルードヴィヒ・フォーラム、アーヘンほか）、「ストレンジ・ホーム」展（ハノーファー歴史博物館ほか）等、ヨーロッパ各地での展覧会に参加、またミュンヘン州立フォーラムで個展を開催している。 Born in Japan in 1972. Lives and works in Germany. After graduating from Kyoto Seika University, Shiota went to Germany and studied under Marina Abramovic and Rebecca Horn. Shiota has been creating videos and installations representing her concern with the body and the environment. One performance video shows her washing her face and hair in a bathtub filled with muddy water. In another installation, a mud-soaked dress is washed with a shower. In yet another installation, black knitting wool is hung around a bed. For the YOKOHAMA 2001, Shiota is planning a grand-scale installation in which five dresses are hung in a pool of mud about 12 meters deep. International exhibitions: "Continental Shift" at the Ludwig Forum, Aachen and other cities in 2000, "Strange Home" at the History Museum in Hanover, a number of group exhibitions across Europe, a solo exhibition at the Munich City Forum.
