	作者略歴 Brief record	写真家であるアラン・セクラは、1970年代から斬新な写真論や評論を発表し、先鋭的な理論家としても知られている。彼は常に、取材する都市や地域の歴史や文化がかかえる問題を分析し、撮影する写真がこうした問題にどのように関われるかという、撮影現場との対話を喚起する作品を制作する。1995年に完結したプロジェクト《フィッシュ・ストーリー》では、世界各地の港湾都市（プサン、グダニスク、ロッテルダム、ロサンゼルスなど）の港湾労働者の現場を取材し、資本と労働の関係を分析した。｢海の物語｣とも言えるこのシリーズは、怜悧な理論と同時に視覚的な美しさと力強さを合わせ持つ作品である。 Born in the United States in 1951. Lives and works in the United States. Sekula is a photographer. He is also known as a radical theorist, developing a novel photographic methodology and publishing essays since 1970. Sekula studies the history and culture of cities he photographs and analyzes their problems. He creates works that rouse a dialogue about the relevance of the photographs to these problems. In "Fish Story" which he completed in 1995, Sekula analyzed the relation between capital and labor. He conducted research in port cities; Pusan, Gdansk, Rotterdam, Los Angeles, and interviewed people working at the docks. This series, a story of the sea, combines a razor sharp theory with visual aesthetics and dynamism.
