	作者コメント Comment	アンリ・サラは、東欧の近年の歴史や現在の状況をめぐって制作活動をしているアルバニアの若手作家のひとりである。ビデオを中心とする彼の作品は、個人的で入り組んだストーリーから構成される。｢ノクターン｣（1999年）という近作ビデオでは、バルカン戦争の元兵士の話と、何千もの魚のいる部屋に住み、つねに沈黙を恐れている男の身の上話という二つの別々のストーリーが展開していく。が、彼の作品は歴史に関して最終的な結論へと導くものでもなければ、そうした歴史を生きる人間の幻滅、不安、恐怖を解決する道を提示しようというものでもない。彼の作品は歴史を映すひとつの鏡として、ある単純な物語を差し出す。そしてその物語のなかで過去の痕跡が現在の散乱した断片を通して浮かび上がってくるのだ。 99、2001年ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ、2000年マニフェスタ3に参加。 Born in Albania in 1974. Lives and works in France. Sala is one of the emerging young Albanian artists. He creates video works that deal with the modern history and current situations of East Europe. He doesn't try to draw a conclusion about the history nor intend to suggest a solution to people's disillusion, anxiety or fear. He simply presents stories as a mirror of history. In the stories, traces of the past emerge through the scattered fragments of the present. Sala employs personal and intricate stories. His recent video work "Nocturne" (1999) is made up of two different stories; a story of a man who has fought in the Balkan battle and a story of a man who lives in a room with thousands of fish and who fears silence. International exhibitions: Venice Biennale in 1999 and 2001, Manifesta 3 in 2000.
