	作者略歴 Brief record	写真家であるオルデンドルフは、自作を展示する場所の歴史と自己の記憶とが共鳴・干渉し、日常/非日常が複雑に絡み合うインスタレーションを制作してきたが、1990年代半ばから開始した映画の連作《マルコ》シリーズによって、さらに独創的な展開を見せている。写真理論や写真の語法・文法を基に制作される映画は、フィチャー・フィルムのスタイルながら、極めて写真的に時間と構図が断片化・分節化されたもので、「動く写真イメージ」のコラージュと言える。10カ国語を駆使する俳優ポールを主人公に起用したシリーズ《マルコ》では、主人公は世界各地の都市と文化、様々な言語の間を分裂症的に移行する。横浜のための新作でも、場面はスペインのビルバオ、京都、バルセロナへと変わり、私たちの本能的な「物語的なもの」や「言語化（意味付け）」への欲望を錯乱させていく。 Born in Germany in 1961. Lives and works in France. Oldendorf, a photographer, has produced installations in which his memories resonate and interfere with the history of the place where he exhibits and which intermingle our everyday and non-everyday worlds. In the mid 1990s, he began making a series of films "Marco," which shows more of his creativity. Oldendorf makes the "Marco" series based on photographic theory, expression and grammar. They are made in the style of a feature film. But, they are very photographic, like a collage of moving photographic images, in which time and composition are fragmented. They confuse our instinctive desire for a story or explanation. In the "Marco" series, an actor Paul, who speaks 10 languages, schizophrenically roams between different cities, cultures and languages in the world. In the new episode for the YOKOHAMA 2001, Paul will travel from Bilbao in Spain to Kyoto in Japan and to Barcelona.
