	作者略歴 Brief record	女性の身体の表現、あるいは化粧に代表される女性の行為の中に、性と社会の関係を検証し、彫刻、写真、ビデオ作品、コラージュなど多様なメディアで挑発的に表現する。近作には、1０5０色のマニキュアの色のサンプルと、その色の名前を30ページのシート上に規則正しく並べた「MANUS-CURE」がある。 91年リバプールのテート・ギャラリー分館での「キャビネット・オブ・サインズ」、98年ニューデリー国立近代美術館での「テイストと探求－1990年代の日本美術」など、多くの国際展に参加。 Born in Japan in 1963. Lives and works in the United States. Kasahara uses women's bodies and their acts like putting on makeup as motifs to represent the relationship between gender and society. She employs various media; sculpture, photography, video and collage. Her recent work "MANUS-CURE" used 1050 shades of nail polish samples alphabetized and labeled on 30 pages of paper. International exhibitions: "A Cabinet of Signs" at the Tate Gallery, Liverpool in 1991, "Tastes and Pursuits -- Japanese Art in the 1990s" at the National Museum of India, New Delhi in 1998.
