絵画の他にパフォーマンスやキネティック（動く）インスタレーションも制作。インドネシアの伝統芸能であるガムラン音楽やワヤン影絵劇に触発された作品を通じ、美術と音楽、文学の統合を試みている。
国際展：93年アジア・パシフィック・トリエンナーレ、96年サンパウロ・ビエンナーレ、シドニー・ビエンナーレに参加。グループ展では「Cities
on the Move」展（ウィーン他各国主要都市を巡回）「Traditions/Tensions」展に参加。
日本では、95年「幸福幻想」展（国際交流フォーラム）、97年「来るべき美術のために」展（東京都現代美術館、広島市現代美術館他）等で紹介されている。
Born in Indonesia in 1960. Lives and work in Indonesia.
Heri Dono makes kinetic installations and does
performances as well as painting pictures. His
art is inspired by the Indonesian musical tradition
of gamelan and the wayang shadow puppet theater,
effectively combining art, music, and literature.
International exhibitions: Asia-Pacific Triennial
of Contemporary Art, 1993, Sao Paulo Biennial,
Sydney Biennale, 1996. Other group exhibitions
include "Cities on the Move" (Vienna and major
world cities) and "Traditions/Tensions," 1996.
Exhibitions in Japan: "Visions of Happiness,"
Japan Foundation Forum, 1995, "Glimpses of the
