Born in France in 1965. Lives and works in France.
Gonzalez-Foerster graduated from the Grenoble
Ecole des Beaux-Arts in France. Since the late
80s, she has been creating a series of narrative
room installations called "Room." Her works combine
visual images, light, sound and furniture. Viewers
can experience a memory or a story of a person
as if they are reading a book about it. In 1995,
Gonzalez-Foerster participated in the Arcus Project
staying in the town of Moriya, Ibaraki Prefecture
in Japan. In 1997, sponsored by the French government,
she came to Kyoto as an artist-in-residence at
the Villa Kujoyama. Besides the activities as
an artist, Gonzalez-Foerster is also active in
various other fields, such as editing of books
and planning of exhibitions. |
