	作者略歴 Brief record	現在、キューバの若手作家のなかでももっとも注目されている一人である。キューバの首都ハバナの古く朽ち果てたヨーロッパの古典的植民地建築でできた町を、新しく美学的・社会的な観点から読み直し、それを写真作品にするという仕事をしてきた。その視点は、時には都市の俯瞰図から建築の装飾の細部に至るが、そこに作り出される新鮮な都市の読み直しは、非常にコンセプチュアルな仕事となっている。トリエンナーレでは、横浜という都市を意識しつつ、彼が生み出す都市のイメージを大きなテーブルの上のインスタレーションとして、生成させる。 Born in Cuba in 1967. Lives and works in Cuba. Garaicoa is one of the hottest young artists in Cuba. He has taken many photographs of Havana, a city with old and decaying buildings in the classical European colonial architecture style. He captures images from his own aesthetic and social point of view. His works, sometimes a bird's eye view of a city and sometimes a close-up of an architectural decoration, present a novel and conceptual interpretation of a city. Garaicoa will show his image of a city, incorporating the image of Yokohama, on a large table at the YOKOHAMA 2001.
