Lives and works in Germany. Durham is a multidisciplinary artist, also known as an activist of the American Indian Movement. He combines Western art history and American Indian icons to make an incisive criticism of colonization in the context of the ceaseless political and economic oppression in their history. His works contain a story of amended historical descriptions and fictions intermingled. The story takes on a satiric or mythological character. He advocates changes in perception of various ruling powers through his works, which are a complex mixture of verbal and visual media. International exhibitions: Documenta IX, Kassel, Germany in 1992, and Venice Biennale in 1999.
