リスや馬など動物の剥製、骨、あるいは生きたロバ、インドの行者などの人間を用いたインスタレーション、また自らの肉体を使ったパフォーマンスによって、不条理なイメージを提示する作品を制作。その作品はユーモアに富みながらも、一方で鑑賞者に不安やジレンマを感じさせる、現代的な問題提起となっている。数々の国際展に招かれ、出品するたびに評価が高まっている。
国際展：95年光州ビエンナーレ、97年インド・トリエンナーレ、97、99年ヴェニス・ビエンナーレ、マニフェスタ2、ミュンター彫刻プロジェクト、2000年シドニー・ビエンナーレに参加。
Born in Italy in 1960. Lives and works in Italy
and the United States.
Cattelan is known for his use of shocking and
unusual objects in installations - including a
stuffed horse and squirrel, bones, a living donkey,
and an Indian fakir - as well as performances
involving his own body. His approach to contemporary
issues is humorous but can also be disturbing
and disquieting to the viewer. Cattelan has been
invited to participate in numerous international
exhibitions, and his notoriety increases with
every show.
