日本、あるいは世界を代表するノイズ音楽家。玉川大学文学部芸術学科卒業後、雑誌編集者を経て文筆活動を行う一方、81年にノイズ・グループ「メルツバウ」結成、現在までに100種を超えるレコード、CDの他、多数のカセット作品を発表する。最近では、ＣＤ50枚組セット『MERZBOX』がオーストラリアのレーベルからリリースされた。
欧米、ロシア、韓国など国内外で精力的にライヴを行い、劇団「ロマンチカ」、映像作家イアン・ケルコフをはじめ、他分野のアーティストとのコラボレーションも多い。

Akita is a noise music artist well-known at home
and abroad. He graduated from the Art Department
at Tamagawa University, Tokyo. After completing
his degree, Akita worked as an editor of several
magazines and later became a freelance writer
for books and magazines. Akita formed a noise
group "Merzbow" in 1981. Merzbow has released
more than 100 records, CDs and cassettes. They
have lately released "MERZBOX," a 50 CD boxed
set, on an Australian label. Merzbow has made
tours throughout Europe and in the United States,
Russia, South Korea and Japan. Akita has also
collaborated with artists in different media,
such as the theatrical group "Romantica" and the
filmmaker Ian Kerkhof. |
