フランス・リヨンの美術学校に在学中の97年よりヴィデオ作品を発表しはじめる。99年、東京青山のスパイラルにて開催された｢スパイラルTV｣、2000年パリのルーブル美術館にて開催された｢one
piece, one critic, one artist｣など多くの展覧会に参加。
｢マニフェスタ３｣では、からっぼの空間に｢Mohammedkarlpolpot｣とたった一行かかれた一枚の作品を敢えて何の情報を加えずに展示。
現在PS１のプログラムにてニューヨーク滞在中。
Born in Algeria in 1971. Lives and works in the
United States
Abdessemed began exhibiting his video works in
1997 when he was a student at an art school in
Lyon. Since then, Abdessemed has participated
in many exhibitions. Those exhibitions include
"Spiral TV" held at the Spiral Garden in Aoyama,
Tokyo in 1999 and "one piece, one critic, one
artist" at the Louvre Museum in Paris in 2000.
At "Manifesta 3," Abdessemed exhibited a video
installation in which a TV monitor was placed
in an empty space and the monitor showed the string
of words "Mohammedkarlpolpot" and nothing else.
Now, he is working on a PS1 program in New York.
For the YOKOHAMA 2001 show, Abdessemed will create
video installations with the Arabic "green book"
motif and various national anthems. |
