Teshigawara Saburo

Born 1953 in Tokyo. Lives and works in Tokyo.

Teshigawara is a contemporary artist who assumes many roles—dancer, director, filmmaker, and visual artist. Teshigawara not only handles the choreography, but the set design, lighting, costumes, and music as well—creating a highly polished Gesamtkunstwerk. He has also been producing installation work, and since the 1990s been making films. His multifaceted practice is emblematic of an experimental and energetic spirit.
