Jonathan Meese (Germany)

Born 1970 in Tokyo. Lives and works in Berlin and Hamburg.
The installation he presented at the berlin biennial in 1998 attracted international attention and he became a leading artist in contemporary German art. His works with a cult solemnity are wide-ranging including performance, installation, and painting. He makes frequent use of images of comic, horror films, medieval crusaders, Wagner, and Hitler to create an aggressive and chaotic world.
