Paul McCarthy

McCarthy became famous for shocking performances and films that challenged taboos such as sex, excrement, and violence, by smearing his head and body with paint, catsup, mayonnaise, and bodily fluids. He used the images and language of American consumer culture such as comics and Disney characters, Hollywood movies, and the supermarket, and changed the normative ordinary world into something grotesque and chaotic.
