Paul Chan

Born 1973 in Hong Kong. Lives and works in New York.

In his video installations, together with animation and documentaries, he employs a new visual language of his own to express human violence, desire, or trauma. Political and philosophical ideas are strongly reflected in his works. His extensive interest and knowledge of literature, philosophy, politics, Greek mythology, and the Bible form the basis of such works.
